Duchess of Angouleme’s Emerald Tiara

March French jewels in the LouvreThe Duchess of Angouleme’s Emerald Tiara was made in 1819-1820 with 40 emeralds set in gold and 1,031 diamonds set in silver. As with most items of precious antiquity, this tiara is a rare masterpiece since most tiaras dating back to this time have been altered or redesigned. The tiara is located in the Louvre where it joins other items from the French crown jewels on public display.
