The Star of India is in the American Museum of Natural History. It is 563 carats and the world’s largest gem-quality blue star sapphire. It is estimated to be about 2 billion years old, it is also one of the most well-known objects in the world. The gem is about the size of a golf ball. In 1964 on Halloween it was stolen from the American Museum of Natural History and found a few days later in a Miami bus terminal locker.
